Intro:
I’ve been playing 2k25 for a while now, so I’ve decided to do a review on it— for you to see if it’s worth it. I currently have 278 hours on 2k25. These are completely my opinions, but if you don’t have 2k25, you can take this review into consideration of whether you buy the game or not. I will show my final grade for the entire game at the end, so let’s get into it.
Beginner Friendliness: This one is arguable. Completing all the tutorials could make it a bit easier on you, but even after all that, you’re gonna lose most of your matches if you don’t have an upgraded MyPlayer. Obviously if you’re playing online, it may not be the best, especially as a 60 overall. That’s sort of an issue. Another issue is that most of the time, if you wanna play MyCareer online, or even offline, to even have fun, or have a high overall, you have to spend money. So overall, 2k25 gets a D+ for beginner friendliness.
MyCareer (and paid upgrades): Easily the most fun game mode. But it may not be as fun when you’re a 60 overall trying to play online (the most popular mode when people play MyCareer). Although, you can achieve a high overall while being free to play, it takes a very long time if you don’t spend all day, every day on the game. So new players may want to play MyCareer online and be disappointed when they get 21-0’d by some sweats in park. The game is honestly pay to win. But offline gameplay is great. No lag, and it’s honestly way easier than playing in Park or Rec, etc. Let’s talk about the fact it costs $100 dollars to fully upgrade your MyPlayer if you spend money. That is insane. That’s a whole other game you could buy with that money. Possibly 2 whole other games you could buy. So overall, 2k25 get’s a C+ for the experience of playing MyCareer.
MyTeam (and paid upgrades): I really like this gamemode. Might be my favorite. It’s fun with friends, and that new Triple Threat Park they added in this 2k is super fun. But there’s still problems with the gamemode. First off, the lack of locker codes. There have been barely ANY locker codes this year. And when there was.. they were lame. This gamemode is still fun without spending money. It just takes a little time. Finish your challenges, and play showdown or other modes that give MT. You can go to the Auction House to buy good players, and when you complete challenges, you could get a 99 overall, depending on the challenge. If you’re competitive you may spend money on this mode, but other than that, it’s decently free to play friendly in my opinion. All you really need is a good 4 players that you can score with, and you’re set. No need to spend money. Just learn jumpshots. But in Triple Threat Park, if you’re not going for a dunk, or your defender is atleast 5 feet away from you as you’re behind the 3 point line, you’re gonna brick the shot if you don’t have a card that’s not a 99 overall or higher. With that being said, I give 2k25 a B- for MyTeam.
MyNBA: This mode is good. All I really have to say. You can make a player and import them into any draft class, and player lock onto them, then BOOM! You’re playing a free MyCareer. You can make your player a 99 overall without spending any money. This gamemode can also be fun if you invite your friends into it. It may feel less achieving as MyCareer though, especially when you hit big milestones in the career. Because there’s no special events. You can just simulate or hop into games. You could drop 100 points in a game, and then that’s it. You go on to the next. You can build a dynasty in this simulation though, which is pretty fun. You can also be a GM, which was better in 2k24 I feel, but it’s alright still. Overall, I give 2k25 an A for MyNBA.
Shoe Creations: You can make shoes for your MyPlayer, which costs about 11000 VC, on average. A bit pricey, but it’s worth it if you want your MyPlayer to be dripped out with YOUR creation. It is fun to make nice looking shoes, but overall not that much to it. I like creating shoes from my origin, or sometimes I replicate real life shoes and import them into the game for my MyPlayer. It is very nice that you can choose materials and all sorts of colors for your shoes. Very interactive. Overall, I give 2k25 a B+ for the shoe creations.
The W: Basically MyCareer but the WNBA option. It’s fun. You have the option to start off as a 75 or 85 overall. Most people choose the 85. It’s cool that you can be good without spending money. MyCareer starts you off at a 60. I do feel as if MyCareer is still more fun than The W. Not because it’s the WNBA, but because it just feels better playing MyCareer, and theres a lot more detail put into MyCareer. Overall, a very solid game mode. I give 2k25 a B for The W.
Overall Grade Of The Game (and if it’s worth it): I give 2k25 a solid C+. There’s many reasons I put it at this grade. Mainly the issues that made it not be AMAZING were the pay to win portions of the game. Overall, I feel like 2k25 is worth it. If you like sports games, go buy it. Although it can be frustrating at times, it is a decent game. The developers could do better, but for what it is, it’s good. So I’d say buy it if you’re a fan of basketball.
What do you think 2k25 could do better? Write it down below! 🏀
